A place where time is measured by the rise and fall of the tide

Hidden away in the woods, our Inn in Kennbunkport Maine is located on the western bank of the tidal Kennebunk River.  Bufflehead Cove Inn offers the tranquility of a peaceful setting with all of Kennebunkport’s attractions a few minutes away. Innkeepers Erin and Harriet Gott have blended a myriad of magical ingredients: cozy fireplaces, antique filled rooms, soft music, lush romantic bedrooms and quiet pampering to create the “best kept hideaway in the Kennebunks.”

Built in the 1880’s by a prominent Kennebunkport ship builder as a summer residence, our Kennebunkport Inn sits on one of the finest stretches of the Kennebunk River.  In 1973, Harriet and James Gott, both born and raised in Kennebunkport, purchased the property as a family home, but opened its doors to the public in 1985 as Bufflehead Cove Inn,  now the oldest family owned Kennebunk Bed and Breakfast.

"Bufflehead Cove, the rambling cottage --- spacious, homey, old-fashioned --- is decidedly reminiscent of long-ago childhoods spent in the country: a place with a full cookie jar and lots of warmth and friendly chattiness, definitely woe-free and free-spirited, much like its owners, Harriet and Jim Gott."

"Named for the diving seabirds which winter here, Bufflehead Cove Inn is located on six private acres at the end of a gravel lane that winds past several small ponds, less than a mile from the center of Kennebunkport. The location on the banks of the Kennebunk River is so peaceful that we could happily stay on the porch or viewing deck reading or looking at the myriad of waterfowl."
