KENNEBUNKPORT , ME. June 2009 – The 5th Annual Arts in the Inns Festival, a pairing of palates and palettes, transports artistic and culinary passion June 3-7 to the coastal village of Kennebunkport , ME.

For five days guests view and sample the stellar performances of guest chefs, renowned artists and nationally sourced winemakers. The by-reservation-only events are scheduled from June 3-7. For details please see www.ArtsInTheInns.com or call Rob Blood at 207.423.9387

The 2009 Festival will feature, among other events, chef/artist signature dinners in private homes; the Twilight Soiree that is one of the most coveted summer events on the Maine coast; an Artists in Residence program whereby guests of inns can discuss works firsthand in an intimate setting; and the Grand Tasting, an extravaganza for the senses that brings fine wines, cuisine of celebrated chefs and the work of award-winning artist to one central location.

The Festival opening on June 3 showcases Kennebunkport’s elite chefs, including Jonathan Cartwright of the White Barn Inn, who will partner with regionally, nationally and internationally celebrated artists to host spectacular dinners featuring multi-course menus paired with wine and inspired by actual works of art. Past muses inspiring chefs have included Sally Caldwell Fisher, Charles Movalli and Wade Zahares.

Rob Blood, festival spokesman, says that this year guests will also have the fun of mingling in the audience for the live filming of “Chef’s Kitchen,” a nationally syndicated cooking show featuring award winning celebrity chefs.

"We are particularly excited about the unique experience that the 2009 festival will afford guests – we are planning a celebration of the senses during which guests will have the opportunity to indulge in events that stimulate their culinary and artistic curiosities."

Also new this year is the Chef’s Gala on Saturday evening. This event brings two nationally celebrated chefs, one from Maine, the other from “away,” together on the banks of the Kennebunk River to create a multi-course menu featuring a secret ingredient harvested in Maine. Dinner will be followed by live music and dancing.
